Upcoming USDBF Level 1 Officials Training Course

22 Mar 2021 by Minnesota Dragon Boat Club

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the sport of dragon boat racing and many folks who have found paddling more difficult due to injuries or time needed for training have found becoming an official to be a great way to still be involved with dragon boating. Having these trainings be available via Zoom makes them so much more accessible and affordable by taking travel out of the equation. Info from USDBF below:

The United States Dragon Boat Federation (USDBF) is the Governing Body for Dragon Boat Sport in the United States. Periodically the USDBF offers a Level 1 Officials Training Course to begin the training of new officials. This training seminar is the first phase for obtaining your USDBF Race Official Certificate (ROC).

The USDBF is excited to announce that the next training session will be administered virtually via ZOOM Meetings.

This course covers: race organization, program, racing rules and protocol, and the roles and responsibilities of dragon boat officials.

After you have completed this course, you are then required to complete a minimum of two full days of hands-on officiating experience at each station in order to be considered for Level 1 National Certification.

Date: 17 April 2021, 930am to 3pm, Central Daylight Time

Please note, the Minnesota Dragon Boat Club IS a member of the ADBA, but the USDBF hasn’t updated their club list yet. I have let our regional representative know, and they are working on it. If you’re interested in registering for this training, your cost is the member rate of $95. Please contact your Board by chatting or emailing one of us directly, or email (info AT mndragonboat.org) if you would like to take this course but $95 is prohibitive. Having more people involved with the sport only helps our club be better, and we would like to find a way to support you.
